2) ELIMINATING DEHUMANIZING PRACTICES WITH INDIGENOUS POPULATIONS
Presenter: Brian Culp, Ed.D., Professor of Health and Physical Activity Leadership (HPAL) and Fulbright Scholar, Kennesaw State University, Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education
Recent research on dehumanization has indicated that students at all levels of schooling are being subjected to negative climates for participation. This includes Indigenous youth, who are subjected to a host of marginalizing and racist actions against them, even as they have poorer health outcomes than their non-indigenous counterparts. This presentation covers current trends and perspectives on Indigenous youth specific to North America. You can contact Brian at bculp1@kennesaw.edu.
